Nathan Ellis picked up a left side strain during Australia's second ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg on September 27. He bowled four overs, then left the field and did not complete his spell. South Africa went on to win by 32 runs, with Miller and Bavuma scoring centuries, and took the series 2-0. The injury ends his tour. Ellis is out of the third and final ODI and has been sent home for further assessment and rehab, along with spinner Joel Davies, who has a hamstring strain. Australia are aiming to have him fit again for the home ODI series against England, which begins on November 13. It is a fresh setback after he had come back from the hamstring problem that kept him out of CSK's entire IPL 2026 season.
