The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has decided to name three stands at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium after Tamil Nadu greats, and Ashwin is one of them, alongside Krishnamachari Srikkanth and Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan. The decision was confirmed on September 29. The stands will be unveiled with all three present on December 12, ahead of the Big Bash League opener between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades at the ground, a match we covered in our history of Chepauk. Ashwin gets the honour less than a year after retiring. He finished with 537 Test wickets from 106 matches, including 37 five-wicket hauls, and shares the record for most Player of the Series awards in Tests with 11.
