Hello Yellow Army!
Day 2 of Round 2 of the Ranji Trophy 2026-27 is done, and it was a great day for two of our batters. Sarfaraz Khan is back to his big-hundred ways, Ruturaj Gaikwad finally got his chance, and a few others had a quieter day. If you missed it, here is our Round 2, Day 1 report. So let's see how they did.

| Kartik Sharma | Rajasthan vs Railways | 4, Rajasthan all out for 497 |

Sarfaraz Khan: back to his normal routine
This is the Sarfaraz we know! After a decent 45 off 97 in the first innings of the Irani Cup and then a 1 off 6 in Round 1, he is back to making big runs and playing long innings in domestic cricket. He brought up his 18th first-class century and is unbeaten on 139 at the end of day 2, with a 176-run partnership with Akash Anand that is still going. Mumbai are on 398/4, leading Himachal Pradesh (140 all out) by 258 runs. Here is his tracker entry.
Ruturaj Gaikwad: a good start
Remember I told you yesterday that Ruturaj was yet to bat? Well, he finally came in on day 2, very late and down in the middle order, and still made a good start, ending the day unbeaten on 35. Maharashtra are 403/5 in 116 overs and lead Jharkhand (169 all out) by 234 runs. After missing Round 1 for India A duty, this is a nice way to get back into red-ball cricket before the New Zealand tour, and I hope he converts it into a big one tomorrow.
Kartik Sharma: another first innings failure
Not a good day for the captain. Rajasthan were 428/3 with Sachin Yadav and Karan Lamba making 194 each, and Kartik came in at 445/5 but could add only 4 runs as wickets kept falling and Rajasthan were bowled out for 497. After his 1 off 5 in the first innings of Round 1, that is another first innings failure for him, even after such a solid base. Hopefully he can bounce back like he did in the second innings last time.
Gurjapneet Singh: a small contribution after the big day
After his 4/34 on day 1, Gurjapneet added 7 runs with the bat as Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 313, and then bowled just 1 over for 1 run before stumps. Uttarakhand are 9/1 in their second innings and trail by 170 runs, so Tamil Nadu are in a strong position. More in his tracker entry.
Shreyas Gopal: a tight spell as captain
Karnataka recovered from 187/7 when Gopal got out and were bowled out for 342, thanks to a century from Manvanth Kumar, who came in at number 9 and still hit a hundred. Then Gopal bowled a tight 7 overs for 26 runs as Saurashtra ended day 2 on 164/4, trailing by 178 runs. Karnataka look in control.
Aman Hakim Khan: tried his hand at bowling
After being stumped for 6 on day 1, Aman got some bowling today and gave away 10 runs in 1 over. It is not the best day for Puducherry, as Madhya Pradesh are 302/5 and already lead by 125 runs after bowling them out for 177.
Kuldip Yadav: a quiet day for Mizoram
Kuldip Yadav contributed 5 runs as Mizoram declared on 581/9 against Nagaland. Mizoram batter Chinmay Sutar remained unbeaten on 400, and became only the 10th batter to score 400-plus runs in a first-class innings in a Ranji Trophy Plate Group match. Kuldip then bowled 3 overs for 19 runs without a wicket, and Nagaland ended the day trailing by 531 runs.
Urvil Patel: still waiting for his turn
Urvil is still yet to bat. Delhi declared on 648/6 after batting the whole of day 1 and part of day 2, and Gujarat are 98/2 in 35 overs, trailing by 550 runs. With a big gap to close, Gujarat will need a lot of runs, so it is a good chance for him to bat long and carry on from his 85 off 67 in Round 1.
